This book examines issues and challenges presented to clients and clinicians working with the Hispanic community in the therapy process. Through the use of the Hermeneutics approach, data is analyzed from previously conducted research treating the Hispanic population. The research questions in this study are tailored to provide results in the adaptations and modification of treatment approaches used for the assessment and treatment of the Hispanic population, identification of cultural values and beliefs, along with identification of societal implications to treatment, clinician’s cultural competency and training needs. The results reveal the need for culturally sensitive application of therapy approaches, understanding of the Hispanic’s cultural beliefs, societal limitations and identified changes, and cultural education and training for clinician’s development of multicultural competency. The purpose of this book is to increase awareness of the needs of the Hispanic population in therapy treatment and for continued development of culturally sensitive approaches tailored to the client’s needs.
