Curcumin is a polyphenolic hydrophobic substance derived within the rhizome of Curcuma longa. It has been proved that usually curcumin provides anticancer impact against different types of malignancies, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-diabetic and anti-rheumatic actions. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the movable joints affecting the elderly population. One of the potential antiosteoarthritic agents under limelight is curcumin.
